MMCOG'S Family Day!

It was an enjoyable 2 days for me! Got to hang around with my mates from KL Office and enjoyed every minute of it. I also had my own driver! How cool is that?? Hehe..Thank you Mamat for being such a nice driver. We (Kerteh Office staffs) pushed off from Kerteh at about 8am. Initially, I freaked out when I heard about the departure time. It only takes 3 hours (maybe ++) to reach Summerset but why such early hour? But the head of the convoy team, Yufi, explained that we might need to wait for people from Kuantan and other place, have breakfast, bla..bla.. No room for arguement. Rendered me speechless. In order to get up early in the morning (coz I don't get up earlier than 8am when it's my day off...but Subuh prayer is still befor 7am k), I need to sleep early, earlier than 12 am. That was my plan.

Well, it didn't work, coz on Friday, me and my housemate, Fida, went to Kuantan to catch the "Jangan Pandang Belakang" movie.

It was kinda spontaneous plan. SInce the movie has been in the cinema for quite sometime, it has less showing time. We reached the cinema at about 330pm and we had already missed the 220pm show. That left us with the 915pm and 1115 pm show. Fida was kinda worried since I would be driving in the next morning but hey, I was there with sole purpose to watch that show and I'm not going back empty-handed. Yeah, we would be late when we got home, but it is one-and-a-half-hour drive from Kerteh to Kuantan. And so, we watched it at 915pm. It is a horror movie, I think you have read in the paper, and yes, the movie did make me scream. However, I still managed to sleep that nite, with my lights off.

I got up at 630am, praying, shower, packing, and at about 740am, fetched my 2-days-driver. My initial plan is for me to drive from kerteh to Summerset and Mamat will be driving from Summerset to Kerteh but since Mamat is familiar with the Kuala Rompin's area, he volunteered to drive there. He also volunteered to drive on the second-day, so it wasn't that I didn't want to drive but someone else is willing, why don't we just let him be the gentleman? Haha.. We reached Summerset, Kuala Rompin at 1230pm. Not so many MMCians were there by that time. My roommates for the 2 day event are Kak Jun and Kak Normah from HR department. They are absolutely fun and sporting people. My comfy bed...

My best friends from KL Office, Noraini and Mariam, were elated to see me. For the 2 days, I joined them with 2 other mates, Liza and Kim. We were always in a group and we made our stay here in Summerset as interesting as we could. Since the only get-together is during our meal time and the grandest is during our BBQ dinner, the rest of the time is free and easy. It means, it's up to you to do anything you want. So, after checking in and relaxing for few hours, at 4pm, me and my group cycled around the Summerset. We rented it for an hour. But it was worth every penny coz we got to explore Summerset and also, we went jungle trekking on bikes. It was so much fun than walking. We decided to enter the eco trail (the name of track) for the second time but quickly dissolved the idea after few "ulat bulu" parking dengan hebatnyer kat my pants. Mariam, the bravest of us all, remove the "ulat bulu" using the fallen leaves. Thanks, Mariam!

For the dinner, I put on my favourite pants and blue-blouse with blue-scarf. Actually, it wasn't my planned attire. It was supposed to be a long flowing white-skirt with green blouse that I just got for myself. It even has matching sandals but I decided against it. I heard the dinner to be held near the beach and I don't think it's appropriate to wear a skirt, with the strong winds. However, due to the unpredictable weather, the dinner was held at the grand hall. Such a waste!
Me with Kak Jun, Kak Normah and unknown kakak
With the rest of the gang!

The dinner was OK la. The food is OK (I heard some people are complaining but not me) and the performance not so bad. The hi-lite of the event was surely the much-anticipated lucky draws. Unfortunately, this year, the company only allocated 70 gifts, unlike the year before where everyone was "lucky". Eventhough the items doesnt cost much (few of my friends got items that cost than RM20 last year), but the joy of having your numbers called was indescribable. This year, I was one of the lucky 70, I got myself a mixer (I dunno what is it for).

The next day, I had to get up quite early. My mates asked me to join them at the swimming pool. But I just didn't have the mood to get myself wet. I didn't bring my swimming suit and I don't feel comfortable wetting my shirt and pants. So, I just "rendam" my legs in the pool and watch them have the time of their life. The pool is very near the beach and the scenery is great. My mates and I took a stroll along the beach and sitting on chairs that were already there and changing gossips. Later, we took breakfast and shower. But, on my way back to my room, I just remembered that the room key is either with Kak Jun or Kak Normah coz I was the earliest leaving the room. I thought that they gonna be back after waiting for them for about 15 mins. But since they didn't, I had to call the housekeeper to let me into my room. But I din't blame Kak Jun or Kak Normah. After shower and packing my stuffs, I was ready to check out! A bit sad, as I have to leave my KL friends, but I know I'll be seeing them again maybe next month or next 2 months. I will make myself available in KL since I have few projects in hands that will allow me to stay in KL..hehe..

(The so-called) Offshore Vacation

You know what, suddenly this hits me: I've never posted my offshore experience. Most of my friends, when I told them that I regularly go to offshore, they would get excited and asking so many questions. Offshore platforms are not the place you can reach even with ur international passport! It's the privillege that I enjoy at the first time, but...it gets tiring and boring after the fourth, sixth....

At Resak platform, with Mercury mask, is it really me?

My first offshore experience started with Resak platform. This platform is one of the newest platforms, so the facilities, rooms and the processing units looks new. But the bad thing about Resak is, the mercury. Whenever we are in the plant area, we have to don complete safety attire (PPE) with mercury mask. It's dangerous k. SInce we were there for a site visit and taking measurement, so we were not required to take urine test before and after the site visit. The importance of this test is to detect the mercury level in ur body. How freaky is that? The one thing that I could never forget about this first trip is...the fire drilling!! It was my first time offshore, so I never anticipated that they would plan to have that. Yeah, they sure had shown me the assembly point and the lifeboats but c'mon, I wasn't interested at all to look the point they were showing. I was more interested to the wide open sea, the unusual scenery..so breathtaking..who cares where the lifeboats are?

The view from the grating. You can actually see the fish down there. Cristal clear water

And then...my very first morning offshore, woke up very early. The meeting started at 630am, so I planned to get up at 530am..but since I was'nt really comfortable sleeping at new place (and the air-cond was sooooo cold!), I got up at 5am..taking my shower, praying..when I was about to put on my PPE, a loud ring hits me. I thought that it was meant to wake people up but it gets longer and louder. My roommate, a Petronas staff, who is used to the emergency ring quickly got up and left me alone in the room! Luckily she was wearing a long pants and t-shirt. I panicked. I have to wear my tudung, was haflway thru my PPE. I was still thinking whether to put on my safety boots but dumped the idea when my officemate knocked on my door. I still didn't put on my contact lenses that time, so I just follow the crowd. I didn't know where we were going and whether I was lost. It was a long journey to the assembly point. Luckily it was only an exercise. If it was real, I might be one of the few unfortunate people...

The question that I mostly got is : how's the food and bed? Well, to me, the food is always excellent. No doubt about it. You are fed 6th time a day (with 3 hours interval between meal to meal) and it is always being replenished. The quality of food is top notch and the varieties will make you indecisivable on what to choose. usually, I take all of it, but in small portions. So, dapatla rasa semua..hehe...It's normal for me and my mates to gain few kilos when we do works there. If you be nice to the kitchen crew, they might packed you somethinig from their kitchen. And the bed? Well, for female, it is very comfortable. We always get the VIP room. Becoz there are not so many women go there, the VIP room is always for us. We have our own ladies room (toilet laaa). Of course la, takkan nak share dengan all the guys?? The VIP room has different bedsheet, comforter and if u r lucky enuff, u might get ur own tv.

That's the story of PMO's (Peninsular Malaysia Operation)Platform. AT PMO, you have to board the chopper (helicopter) to reach the platforms. The nearest is Resak, about 180 km from the shore. But it's a different story at SKO (Sarawak Operation). Most SKO platforms are near the shore and can be reached via boat. I have one experience with one of the SKO platforms. I went to Temana last year. Used to PMO platforms, I thought it will be same with SKO. But nope! Temana is an unmanned platform. It means that the workers only come during the day and left the platform before nite. So, we didn't get the luxury of the food and the bed. But luckily we got even better bed coz we stayed at one of the best hotels there. But we have to bring our own food. By boat, Temana is about 2.5 hours journey. The boat is not that fancy, fast boat, it is a regular boat, and very hot inside. I was the only female to board it that day. To make matter worst, they actually played Inul's VCD on the whole journey. I was feeling red from head to toes. Darn all the men! When we reached temana, we were sooo relieved to know that there was a maintenance boat docked at Temana. They were having some maintenance works that day. So, we still get the luxury of good food, thanks to the maintenance people :). I could not imagine my day there without the maintenace boat. The toilet only has 4 walls with a roof and your "discharge" will straight away go into the sea. I didn't see any piping for water and I refused to ask anything on that "matter". I realllllyyyy love the maintenance boat!

Maintenance boat docked at Temana platform. I lovvveeee the boat sooo much!

Well, I think that's my few information on offshore lifestyle. And by the way, we HAVE to have passport to go there. It's called Offshore Safety Passport. Slightly more expensive than ur ordinary international passport. It costs my company more than RM1k. But it cost me nothing..hehe..Maybe should be grateful for that. Till then...daa..

Relaxing weekend

Last Thursday, I visited my juniors (UTPians), Shana and Hana at Awana Kijal. Hana is attached to Ethylene for 3 months (till June) and asked Shana to accompany her at Awana. Shana is also working in Kerteh.

This is us in Awana's room. What I really like about Awana is, the swimming pool! It is huge, so much fun! Next morning, I drove back to my house to take shower and get ready to work.

On Friday (my off day), I went to Perodua service center. My fourth trip after getting my beloved Myvi car. After an hour there, I pushed off to my other destination. My friend Miah, has given birth to a pretty baby, Sarah and it’s been more than a month I didn’t visit her. So, I thought, I’ll pay a visit to her before she started working next week. Sarah sure has grown, even prettier than I last saw her. The left picture was taken few days after she was born and on the right is her picture now.

Miah and me chatted about nearly everything. She’s truly a great friend. After few hours exchanging gossips with Miah, I headed to one of my favourite places of all time, Center Point, a shopping haven. Well, that’s the best here. Just to pick-up my camera (under repair) and bought few things. As usual, the “few” things is not that few. I also bumped into my ex-boss (Perwaja). I have planned to come to her house to take a cert but I didn't expect to see her there. Anyway, I promised to see her after I completed my shopping. Lepak with my ex-boss is quite fun actually. She's like a sister to me. We have been close when I was working with Perwaja but we seems to get even closer after I quit Perwaja. Maybe becoz now, we can almost talk about everything without restriction. Well, i heard someone from my ex-office is getting married. Hmm..glad to hear that..

I also had one heck of a dinner that nite. Ketam masak bercili and tiram bakar...Still makes me drooling at this very time. Thanks to one of my good friends to bring me to the best place to enjoy that food.

Sorry yer, the picture is actually taken AFTER we had finished everything..hehe..We should've taken the pix BEFORE we ate any of it but..I just couldn't stand the aroma..:p...

That's it! One of the best weekend..ever...

Lapar le....

I'm having a headache and also hunggryyyy at this very moment. I didn't take my lunch today, thinking that I could stomach the whole muffin (which I bought at Awana) and still not feeling hungry all day long. The muffin was huge! I was wrong! My headache? So many things to think of. On top of the list is: I have to pay the income tax. Last year, they owe me but this year, I'm paying. Not fun at all! And then, my car insurance is due next month, my car also needs to be serviced by end of the week, my bandung trip next month. All of the sudden, I feel that my planning has gone wrong.

However, it wasn't as bad as it seems. I've already prepared for this. Even though I overlook few things, it is still within my control. Spending money on things that you like is heavenly and on things that you are forced to pay...not nice at all...But still, I'm facing the world with positive attitude.

Yesterday, I called one of my dearest friends. Just to say hi and have the latest chat with her. She is currently 7 months pregnant. Another pregger in my list of friends. I know she will be a fantastic mom! (p/s: yus, if the baby's a girl, name her after me k..hehehehe). I also tried contacted another friend, also a pregger but she's not returning my calls. Maybe she's bz with sthing else. She is the major topic disscussed in the chain of email between me and fellow Kerteh friends. I heard she got a new job but dunno where.

Well, next week, I'm going to my company's family day. Can't wait for that. It will be held at Summerset Endau Rompin. The last time was at A Famosa water world. I had so much fun in melaka (put aside that I am a Melakan) and hope this one does too. I've prepared my dinner attire (simple...but sweet) and I wish that I am one of the lucky ones in the Lucky Draw.

Also, for Bandung trip, there might be some changes in the plan. We might be going to Jakarta instead. Some friends say that Jakarta is better than Bandung. I don't mind. Shopping is what matters...:p

Checkmate?

Item that I won

Item that I got

Last week, in lelong website, I bid for a chess set. I won. Let the pix above speak for itself. I don't really mind actually but quite dissappointed with the seller. Internet trading is not something new to me. But I never tried lelong website before. I prefer ebay. The items might not be that much but the transaction is always smooth and I never has any problem with any of the items that I bought. The seller hasn't responded yet. I think, maybe he/she forgot that I won the black piece and not the white piece instead. I didn't rate this seller yet and I have no intention to. But thanks to him/her, I was rated good buyer.

So, the real question here, what am I going to do with it? I dunno. I saw my friend bought one and hell, I'm interested too. My female friends suggested it for "perhiasan". Girls will always be girls... But male friends suggested to use it for what it is. For now, it's still in the box. But I have already identified few opponents. They might be interested to hone their skills...But am I a good player? You have to challenge me to know it...:)))

What I've Done

In this farewell,
There is no blood,
There is no alibi,
Cause I’ve drawn regret,
From the truth,
Of a thousands lies,
So let mercy come and wash away…

What I’ve Done,
I’ll face myself,
To cross out what I’ve become,
Erase myself,
And let go of what I’ve done…

Put to rest,
What you thought of me
While, I clean this slate,
With the hands,
Of uncertainty,
So let mercy come,
And wash away…

What I’ve Done,
I’ll face myself,
To cross out what I’ve become,
Erase myself,
And let go of what I’ve done…

For what I’ve done,
I start again,
And whatever pain may come,
Today this ends,
I’m forgiving what I’ve done…

I’ll face myself,
To cross out what I’ve become,
Erase myself,
And let go of what I’ve done…

(Na,Na,Na) [Mike Shinoda!]

What I’ve Done,
What I’ve Done,
Forgiving what I’ve done…

Finally, my long wait is ovah! The coolest rock band (maybe alternative rock, but hey, still rock band k) in the world, Linkin Park has finally came out with their latest album, Minutes to Midnight. I am sooooo happpyyyyyy...Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Down with fever

I just couldn't sleep the whole nite last nite. It was a nitemare. I felt roasted in my own room. It was so damn hot. I thought it was the weather but it was me. For someone who rarely get sick, this is a disaster. Believe me, I've tried everything to get myself into sleep. This morning, unlike any other Friday morning, my Subuh prayer is at 630am. I was getting headache all day (yup, also at this very moment). This could be my first MC of the year but hell, it's off day. Pandai betul penyakit aku datang masa cuti..

But luckily, I was feeling better now (that's why I'm blogging). Turn out that it is that day of the month. Crap!

I had one bad experience on this fever thinging. Last year, I had this one critical project. Everyone else (other dept) is waiting for me to complete so that they can proceed with their job. I worked very hard. However, on the day that I should submit my documentation to the client so that the rest can proceed, I was down with fever. I think it was due to the pressure. I couldn't even get up from my bed. With shaky hands, I called my boss and told him of my condition. He freaked out but also he knew that it was out of his hands. However, since I have promised the client the documents, I told my boss that I still come to the office when I get better. After feeling slightly better, I dragged myself from my bed and drive to the office. I was sick as a dog but I have no choice. I managed to complete the job and submit them but...there were so many errors in the report. You can imagine how furious is the client. I took the blame becoz it was almost impossible to tell ur client that u were sick. They didn't really care. All they want is get their job done on time.

Somehow, whenever I get sick, it just reminds me that I'm a human after all. There were times when I thought that I wasn't normal. I rarely have fever. The only sickness that I often get is flu. I get headache all the time but that's normal, looking at the nature of my works. Sometimes, I think, we can control our sickness. It's all in ur head. Like me, I could still be on my bed at this very moment if I still think that I'm sick. I didn't sleep the whole nite. Yet, here I am. Few hours before, I thought I couldn't go anywhere but sleeping on my bed but now, the trip to Chukai seems sooo enticing.

Boboy...

Well, it's been a week since I last blogged. Been quite bz week. Another offshore trip and later drove back home to my kampung in Melaka. All of a sudden, I feel so very tired going offshore..not that enjoyable...miss the land thoroughly...I just don't want to go...but it's what i do...what to do?

On my last day offshore, I managed to persuade the RO (Radio Operator) to get me on the first chopper back to the shore (I know, I have that charm...hehehe). Unfortunately, couldn't board it since some unfinished work (which later turned out, not related to me at all....soooo frustratingg!). made me grumpy and moody the whole day. The reason I wanted to get on the earliest chopper was, I wanted to drive back to Melaka on that day. But since my next chopper was quite late in the afternoon...I decided not to drive and get on the bus instead. No luck either since it was a three day holiday. Ramai betul orang naik bas...hampehh..I wasn't feeling excited at all to go back to melaka. So, I thought that it would be good to stay at Kerteh and do some works at the office....even it's holiday..I'm used to it..

However, a phone call from my mom made me changed my mind. She wanted me to come home and fetch my ailing granny to stay with us for few days. I know she missed her mom and I missed my granny too...So, why not?

One of my favorite thing at home is the cute lil boy my mom is taking care of. Boboy is cute and his antics really entertain everyone at home. He was only few months old when he was brought to us (His mom is working at the same place as my younger sister). And he has been the apple of my parents eyes ever since. I think my siblings also pampered him to the max...Including me..who is not really into children..but he is really something...

Now, his parents doesn't have to send him to our house coz my dad will fetch him whenever he misses him. You can say that almost every day Boboy will be at my house and it kinda get me worrying that his parents might feel something else..But I think they knew that my parents love Boboy like he is one of their own. I know that my parents is actually giving all of us (my adik beradik) a big hint: grandchildren. Hmm...that may take a while...
